Build Authority Through Visibility

International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a powerful reminder that leadership matters — but in marketing, leadership looks different than most business owners think.
Using the StoryBrand framework, your customer is the hero of the story — not you.
But that doesn’t mean you disappear.
It means you show up as the guide.
In every strong story:
- The hero has a problem.
- They meet a guide.
- The guide shows empathy and authority.
- The guide gives them a clear plan.
- The hero succeeds.
If your website only lists services, you’re not positioned as the guide — you’re positioned as another option.
To build authority through visibility, ask:
- Are you clearly identifying your customer’s problem?
- Are you expressing empathy (“We understand how frustrating this is”)?
- Are you demonstrating authority (results, experience, certifications, testimonials)?
- Are you giving them a clear next step?
Authority isn’t about talking more about yourself.
It’s about clearly showing that you understand the problem and have a plan to solve it.
This month, try one small shift:
- Update your homepage to clarify the problem you solve.
- Add a short “Here’s how we help” 3-step plan.
- Strengthen your About section to position you as the trusted guide — not the hero.
When customers see themselves in the story — and see you as the capable guide — trust builds quickly.
